Julian - as an alternative, are you ever able to set aside a day to
come in to London? The Sri Lankan newspapers are mostly at the British
Library at St Pancras. As you know, I've transcribed some years, but
not the ones you're interested in, unfortunately.

Research. -Surname DAVIDSON
I'm just back from another gruelling 2 hour session at our local LDS
history centre, once again with no fresh information.
Does anyone here know how to search the online LDS film catalogue?
I've found many, many films listed, pertaining to Sri Lanka / Ceylon,
far, I've been selecting them almost at random, & searching
blindly, without having any exact dates or names, just in the hope of
finding more of my ancestors and their siblings.
My main search is to find out the marriage details of Andrew
Davidson, probably abt
1820 and also probably at St Pauls Church,
Pettah, Colombo, where his son was baptised in 1823.
Are there any specific films for that church? or are there civil
registration films which cover all of the Island?
Does St Paul's Pettah still exist? and might they have their own
original registers, perhaps its worth a letter to them?
I've taken a brief look at the marriage index films, but since you
can't 'search' a microfilm, except frame by frame, its probably
What do people think?
Yours frustrated and disheartened (temporarily).
