I wish you both a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year - presumably
baking hot and sunny. Look forward to further revelations next year!
Interesting that Perry's "tombstones etc.) proved so unreliable. It is my
main source for the branch of my family that were in Ceylon in the first
years of the 19th century. I've often wondered how he gathered all that
information before the days of taperecorders, typewriters or telephones!

Coreen and Larry Andresen here..Seasons Greetings to all. We would like
to update the Ceylon films on microfiche in the CBG in The Hague.
We are sure most of these entries are NOT in the LDS films, and they
are NOT from the Prins-de Vos books.
Our son did some research and copying for us earlier this year, (we are
trying to get the younger generation hooked too), and we would like to
share some of the information he posted back to us.
There are 2 microfiche for Jaffna baptisms. The first is page 1 and 2
and the second is page 16 and 17 of the Register of Births and Marriages
of the Dutch Presbyterian Church Jaffna, from 1866 to 1877.
Jaffnapattam ref D
The two pages only have Baptisms and are very clear.
The names are
Gertuid Elizabeth Leembruggen
David Horatio Margenout
Henry Arthur Victor Speldewinde
Louis Henry Koch
Midred Francis van den Wall
Eliza Allen Jean Todd.
Ernest Vivian Leembruggen
William Theodore Perkins
Edith Anastasie Koch.
The first page was cut off and the minister, baptism date and portion
of the sponsors are missing, but the parents and the birth date are as
clear as a Christmas bell.
The second page is complete.
We are willing to send the scanned pages to anyone on the list as an
attachment to show what original recordsthere are still to be found that
need to be transcribed.
Please send an Email entitled SCANS to coreen.anderson(a)gmail.com and we
will forward the 2 pages to you.
We do not know why there are only 2 pages from an 11 year period, nor
where the original pages are.
We are compiling a list of Ceylon microfiche, with dates and events,
known to be in the Central Bureau of Genealogie, in The Hague, and will
post to the list soon.
Our search for the origin of James Thomas Anderson has finally come to a
close in British Ceylon, with a death date found for 1847, in Jaffna, at
the age of 68.
Nina told us the marriage was in the Prins books in The Hague, and
Rohan visually confirmed the original marriage entry to Adriana
Toussaint in 1804, and "of Schotland" as to where JTA was from.
Thank you to all list members who contributed to our search especially
Susan and her cousin who gave us the Anderson B&M list compiled by the
late Sam Mottau, with the James Thomas Anderson 2nd marriage in Kandy,
and not Galle as stated in the DBU journal and in the book, "Tombstone
and Monuments in Ceylon" by Lewis too. We had spent years looking for
that marriage on Galle films!!Mind you we have only found a handful of
Kandy marriages on film !
Our search may be moving to Scotland for the ancestry of JTA, but we
still have a lot to find out about the descendants in Ceylon.
Our research of Prime records has shown major problems with the DBU
genealogies. They should only be used as a guide, and confirmation by
primary source entries need to be undertaken where possible. We have
proved that the primary records are out there, but the problem is they
are not in one place, nor are they transcribed. The exception being what
we have personally posted to the list.
KOSAH. Keep On Searching And Hoping !! We did, and 2008 has been a very
Coreen&Larry, in Tropical Nth Queensland. Australia.
