from an Aussie lad and Ceylon lass who have an offspring in Toronto,
and have been helped a lot by Canadian Ceylon Researchers, tis a
pleasure to return the favour.
As far as we are aware the British Galle records have not been copied by
the LDS. The records are still with the church at Galle.
From secondary sources we have a child to the lady of J A Hume born at
Darlington, near Galle Jan 17 1854, and another on July 4th 1855. J A
Hume is shown as living in Galle in the 1851 Ceylon Calendar. The is
also an insolvency case in 1866 listed.
"Darlington" is the name of a country residence which once belonged to a
rich Dutch Merchant. It is at Wakwella, near Galle.
There seems to be a lot of Humes in Ceylon and India during this period.
We will put the J A Hume name on our look list too.
