Just a thought. I presume you have seen the entry relating to her being a
passenger and are wondering whether she died on board the "Indus" in 1853?
Have you checked the Captain's Log Records for this ships voyage? I think
it would state if a passenger had died on board.

Subject: [SRILANKA] DEATH AT SEA FROM CEYLON
I am wondering if my ancestor Harriet COLEPEPPER died at sea on her return
journey to London from Ceylon. She was on board the Steamer 'INDUS' in
July 1853 after living in Colombo/Kandy for 9 years. She was aged 59 at
the time and could have been returning home due to illness. I have never
been able to find her death entry at General Registration and have tried
various spellings of her name. Her husband returned to England alone in
1859 and was listed as widower in 1861. He died in 1862.
Any ideas please?
