I lived in Sri Lanka for many years. Am now back in U.S.A.
Morutuwa is about ten miles south of Colombo on the beach. Of course
there is no break in the city between Colombo and Morutuwa. Mortuwa is
where nowadays all the embassies are. It is where all the rich live in
Colombo, big stately homes with fine yards, the streets all covered with
enormous flowering trees. I think, but am not sure as I can't remember
right off, Arthur C. Clarke lives there also. I imagine in the early
1900's Morutuwa was the domain of the upper class english.
