Reading Megans message posted to the India list, about the Srilanka list,
I have just subscribed.
My interest is primarily Social History rather than Genealogy.
I am trying to locate primary source material that sheds a light onto the
lives of British Women in the Indian Subcontinent. My study period is
broadly the nineteenth century. I am seeking copies of letters, journals,
diaries and that sort of thing. An individual letter, perhaps sitting in a
box of old photographs, is the sort of thing that I need for my research. If
you know somthing about the writer of the document then this is a bonus. I
am not particularly interested in the 'rich and famous'. I wish to give
voice to the countless 'ordinary' women who, for some reason or other, found
themselves in the subcontinent.
Please look in your boxes and help me in my research.
I will gladly pay the cost of photocopying and postage if, for any reason,
you cannot send this material via the internet.
