Hello Camilla ~
I've no connection to these names but the 1881 UK census shows that
surnames Fowke, Gray & Bird are recorded with Ceylon connections. You
may already have this material. If you do not, and it's of interest,
just drop me a line. regards Anne H. in Epping, England
Thank you for the offer. I do already have the 1881 census
information. I am really looking for any connections or information
about them in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) itself.
PS..... anyone else want a lookup in the 1881 Census of England,
Scotland & Wales?

I've newly subscribed to this list and am researching the above
The Fowkes had long term connections in India (17thC onwards,
EIC) and were tea planters in Ceylon in the 19thC. The other
families are related.
I would be interested in any connections.
