I am new to the list and would appreciate any advice the listers can give. While I am very
experienced in UK and Australian research this is my first venture elsewhere.
I have had information that the following family may have lived in Sri Lanka sometime
between 1885 and 1900.
John WILLIAMS b. Liverpool, ENG about 1849 (father's name Daniel Williams) was a trunk
maker. He married in Liverpool in 1877.to Ann Selina nee HOSKINS b. 1849, Isle of Man .
John was married before and widowed. He may have had a daughter by his first marriage. I
do know that John and Selina had at least four sons the eldest two were Henry J. WILLIAMS
b.c. 1878 Liverpool
George F. WILLIAMS b. 1880 Liverpool.
I have a photograph taken in Liverpool approx. 1885 showing Ann and five children, a girl
who appears to older that the rest and four small boys.
The writing on the back of this photo says
"Ann and the children shortly before going to Ceylon"
Can anyone advise on the availablilty of Census returns or marriage and death records in
Sri Lanka which may shed light on this family?
Cheers from South Australia
