I'm a bit new to all this overseas family history lark - but don't
worry, I've read the 'Family History in India' site and will check out
the baptismal records.
In the meantime, my interest is this:
William HOPE, worked in the army in Ceylon - I'm presuming for the
moment the Ceylon Light Infantry Volunteers. His son Frederick George
HOPE was born c.1882/83 in Trincomalee, but by 1913 was back in
London, where he married Ethel Maud May PETTITT. Any suggestions as to
how I find out more about William and his acitivities? I know he was
in the army from family comments and from the 1913 wedding certificate
which lists him as army pensioner, apparently still alive.
Very grateful for any help received, Emma.
PS - this is the second time I've posted this - I didn't see it
appear on the mailing list the first time, so something must have
gone wrong. Apologies if I am wrong and you HAVE already read this
