I'm posting this for a friend & non-subscriber in UK searching
for descendants of WILLIAM HENRY PERRY, a Cornish miner who
became Captain of the Simmer & Jack goldmine in the Transvaal,
and is buried at the Primrose Cemetery, Germiston. His children
(with spouse SARAH JANE HODGE marr 1887 Cornwall) were MARGARET
MARY, WILLIAM HENRY JAMES (Jim), THOMAS HODGE, DOROTHY JANE and
FLORENCE MAY (Florence born Transvaal ca 1903/4).
The Death Notice of William Henry James Perry of Johannesburg has
been seen; his wife was KATHLEEN ELIZABETH b DUTTON. Margaret
Mary married OATES, and their daughter GRACE married a STANFORD
and had two sons, LEONARD IVOR and GEORGE ALFRED. Its possible
that Leonard Stanford may still reside in Kimberley, where he was
known to be in 1989, perhaps married to ANGENIKE MAUREEN b
FRYLINCK. So far not found.
GRACE STANFORD had at least one brother, DAVID OATES born 1917
Kimberley, later of Johannesburg. Estate papers in Transvaal and
Cape do come up in online search of the latter name but seem not
Seeking children of GRACE STANFORD, including her son LEONARD,
and those of DAVID OATES, and any living descendants of WILLIAM
HENRY JAMES PERRY and his wife KATHLEEN.
If anyone knows of this family or has information regarding
present whereabouts of such descendants, relative CHRISTINE
TEMLETT in Devon is anxious to make contact. Please direct any
response to me off-list.
