Hello - My grandmother, her siblings and mother were all listed on the
census as inmates as they were in the Highworth Workhouse in Swindon.
I went to see the actual Workhouse records in the Swindon History Centre
which were fascinating.
If you look on here http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Highworth/
and type in the

recorded parish workhouses in operation at Highworth (for up to 38 inmates ...
area or town, it will give you a short history plus an indication of whoch
records still exist and where they are. Infirmaries may well be listed
here. I found out so much when I read the entries and suggest you too try
and get to see them. My grandmother knew nothing of her real mother or that
she had siblings, and I have connected with relatives of these siblings and
learned more about her brother and sister.
