I have two issues with libraries
why is the SOG library not in this union catalogue?
OCLC is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research
organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to
the world's information and reducing information costs. More than
69,000 libraries in 112 countries and territories around the world use
OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library
Ancestry Database Card Catalog
integrated with the SOG catalogue for on site use
in other words the stock of virtual books (scanns) on the ancestry
sites are part of the holdings at SoG
a couple of years ago I ordered "Laphams of America" on inter library
loan from Solihull library
the British Library documentation centre obtained fiche from a US
university library for me
no one noticed:-
Aldridge, Bertha Bortle Beal,.
Laphams in America :
thirteen thousand descendents including descendents of John from
Devonshire, England, to Providence, R.I., 1673 : Thomas from Kent,
England, to Scituate, Mass., 1634 : and genealogical notes of other
Victor, N.Y.?: unknown,
already in house
and at home
NB a quirk of the ancestry index is that a search for "lapham" misses it
"laphams" with the "s" finds it

Yes, I would expect to be jailed if I did what it seems happened there.
I wonder if the charity commissioners here would have to power to
overturn such a process?
