My wife's gt-grandfather, Thomas Pettman (1807-1884), was an organist
and "professor" of music in Ramsgate. He also sang professionally, and
composed and published pieces for organ, piano and voice.
Three of these compositions are in the British Library, but the inside
cover of one refers to fourteen others (see
). None of them is
in the BL catalogue (or the Bodleian catalogue), or seems to be
available from antiquarian booksellers. Has anyone any thoughts about
how to set about seeing if a copy of any of these works still might exist?
I see that some of them are "dedicated by permission to the Queen", so the Royal
) may have copies of them.
