The only things I would be unhappy about would be the selling of the images
to pay sites like ancestry and find my past; the images should be kept in
the various archives hands and on their own websites and servers.
Alas - commercial involvement is very likely to be what must happen.
Archive's web-sites and servers are sized strictly to their mandated role in
life. While Chester Record Office squeezes some excellent indices onto their
web-site, when it comes to releasing parish register images, the size is
such that it will have to be a commercial model. I'd quite like my next-door
neighbours to pay for my hobby - without me paying for theirs of course
(grin) - but I don't think it'll work out like that.
