A DIY way to confirm the basic fact (should you feel the need) would be
to find a library with a run of contemporary Gentleman's or other Annual
Kalendars, and check out the list of House of Commons doorkeepers. In
an 1802 one I have, under the item "Clerks and Officers of the House of
Commons" the two doorkeepers, six messengers and one under doorkeeper
are named. A similar list is in the 1834 issue, but no Trout that I
could see in either, and I have none between those dates.
The obvious libraries in London would be the British Library, Guildhall
or our own dear SoG.
