Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

website. I think a lot of people don't even know about it, as it is not
called a forum. It is also difficult to navigate to from the members
page, whereas it should be one of the main items when the page is first
Do people realize that rootsweb (or its HyperKitty mail archiver) is publishing all posts to this list to the whole world? SoG member's email addresses are plainly on view so that any Tom, Dick or Spammer can harvest them. For example:-
It is also indexed through google and appears in searches on it.
Isn't this list supposed to be private?!
