Let me re-enter the discussion on Pliny. I looked again this morning at the
pictures I took in June of Pliny and Elizabeth's headstones in Southwick, MA.
What is quite clear in Pliny's is that he was 82 when he died. Also that he
died October 8, 183? The last number is a bit smudged but it does look like
I had written Fred Sackett about this in late June and he reads the tombstone
the same. I have tried to make the last number read as a "5" with the tail of
the "5" making it look like a "0" . But that does not really work.
Thurmon, I am sending you the tombstone photos I took, one of Pliny, one of
Elizabeth, and one of both stones together. See what you make of them.
What is touching is that now Elizabeth's stone is leaning way over toward
Pliny's, like she is wanting snuggle up close to him!!
Who else lives close to Southwick and can maybe check out the dates from the
local church or cemetery records?
Don in Napa.
