I know that you were requesting an answer from Thurman and/or Fred, but am going to stick
my two cents worth in. I copied all of the births and marriages on Sacketts that I found
in the Westfied (Hampden County Records) and the Westfield Congregational church records.
Did send Fred a copy and have scanned and sent Thurman some= I just went to the LDS IGI
and looked up a marriage for Pliney and Elizabeth. There were several in there from about
1772, 1780, etc. in Westfield and one in Southwick in 1814. They were all submissions. I
am inclined to disagree with all the Westfield ones since I did not see them in my quick
glance at the Westfield Records. Also, the marriage records from Westfield have been
extracted. Didn't see them there either. Since the banns were filed in Southwick,
think that would be more likely. However, the 1814 date was a submission and marriage to
a different woman so either a different Pliney or another error and (on my soap box
again--why one c!
an not use the work of others without knowing their documentation) a lot of these are flat
out wrong or other Plineys and this submission could be wrong too. You probably already
know this but the Southwick Congregational Church Records are available at the LDS
Library. Covering years 1773 - 1895. It is film Number 234575. And it is item 1 on the
film. Don't know if you are near an LDS library or not. If you have never used the
library, they have the films in Salt Lake and they send them to the local libraries for a
nominal fee like 4 or 5 dollars so that people (anyone- you do not have to be Mormon as I
am not) can use them. So if you do not have access to the Congregational church records
in Southwick you might try to get them thru the LDS Library.
