We do not know what happened to Henry LAIL (1)and we must assume that
Peter was killed. Peter's wife, Mary, and two daughters were taken
prisoner and taken to Michigan. Peter also had a son, Peter (2) whose
fate is unknown.
1) Henry Lail returned to North Carolina by 1784 possibly with a bride.
We are can not prove it but some persons in that branch of the family
vehemently claim Indian blood going back to Henry. We have no idea who
he married but as a rule the Indians took only small children and women
captives, so we have our doubts.
Henry left NC in 1807 and relocated to Tennessee and finally to Arksnsas
where he died ca. 1830. The Lail/Lales of Arkansas and Texas descend from
2) Peter Lale Jr. was we think raised in the Household of his cousin
Evelas Lail Franks, wife of John Martin Franks (married in captivity
circa 1783). He had a family of his own which was based in Grant Co.,
KY. He (Peter Jr.)disappears from the records circa 1830-31.
