I did, indeed, receive Chris McHenry's book, and it is very useful. Chris
compiled and published the lists of prisoners held by the British (1778-1783)
in 1981. The lists contain the names of many Ruddle's and Martin's Fort
prisoners and were copied from microfilm in the Canadian Archives of the
Haldimand Papers, owned by the British Museum.
When I received my copy of the 102-page paperback book in July 1999, Chris's
address was 14684 Wilson Creek Road, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025. You might check
telephone listings in Lawrenceburg to see if she's still there. Sorry, I
didn't keep her phone number.
At the time she put together the book, Chris (female) was a librarian in
Lawrenceburg. If there's no phone listing under her name, you might check
the library in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
The book, which cost $7.50, contains several listings of the Mahan family,
along with the family of Agnes LaForce, who is my ancestor. RAMSHA member
Carolyn Kent and I have done a lot of research on the LaForce/Mahan families,
as you know.
If you're not able to track down Chris McHenry, I'll photocopy the pertinent
pages and mail them to you. Or you can obtain the microfilm on interlibrary
loan from the Public Archives of Canada, 395 Wellington St., Ottawa K1A ON3,
Canada. It is a portion of the Haldimand Papers, Add. Mss. 21,843 and is on
Microfilm Roll A-765.
Let me know whether you're able to reach her with the information I've
provided. Good luck!

Nov. 29, 2000 you posted an email message to the Ruttlesfort group regarding
a book titled "Rebel Prisoners at Quebec 1778-1783". You mentioned in your
message that a copy of the book could be obtained from Chris McHenry of
Lawrenceburg, IN for $7.50.
I sent the money, along with a request to Mrs. McHenry but have never
received it. The check also was never cashed. Did you ever get your copy or
has anyone else had any problems getting theirs?
