We really enjoyed last Saturday. What a treat to visit all those
historic places of our ancestors. So glad to have met you, too, Don. The
program and planning were superb. Thank you for everything.
How is your grandson doing? I think of him every day. How old is he?

Sounds like a good gathering. sorry to have missed it, but our trip to a family gathering in Canada was too close on its heels. Hopefully next year.
Sorry to have missed the Byer's, since our moving to MS, the trip to RAMSHA is one of the few opportunities we have to visit with them on a regular basis.
Blessings to all.

Gathering 2011, the 13th meeting of Ruddell & Martin Stations Historical
ssociation, was held on the fourth Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Biancki's
est.,
ain Street, Cynthiana. The meeting was held in the same room that we met
n when we organised this association . We first met there in March of
998.
he gathering 2011 began with an introduction of Officers, followed by
ntroduction of the visitors. Each visitor stood and told who they were and
ho they were descended from or their interest in the forts. The group was
maller than usual, but they were very active and very much interested in
elling about themselves and their ancestors. A lot of information was
hared. A great group of visitors. It should be noted that we received many
pologies from many members who could not attend for various reasons. Most
ffered was the economy and the price of gasoline to make the trip. It has
een
bad year for a lot of our people. Some members have been effected by
ecent tornados. The group who traveled the fartherest to the gathering was
harles and Virginia Byers and son Brent , from Longview, Washington. The
ext was Phyllis and James Still, Gilmer, Texas,
fter introductions we proceeded to a business report, Treasury report,
tc. A decussion was brought up about the bylaws and one of the subjects was
hat to do if the organization ever folded. It was suggested that in that
vent, God forbid, the money in our treasury would be given to the Harrison
ounty Historical Society. A motion was made and seconded, a vote was
aken and the motion was cared. It is a usual part of the bylaws of an
rganization to cover that eventuality. We discussed our dues and our financial
position. Our treasury has suffered pretty much like economy.
e were treated by a beautiful concert by Jon Hagee who played and sang
or us. Thank you Jon you did an excellent Job. Mel Hankla began his
resentation of George Rogers Clark about 11 AM. For you who were not there,
hame on you, you missed a great performance. Mel was very good, not just
ood, but better than good, and knew the Character of George Rogers Clark. It
as as though Clark was standing there in front of us from the past. We were
ransported to that era in time. He took us along on his trip to his
apture of the British forts in Vincenses, Kaskasia. It was as though we were
here with him when his men waded through chest deep water in February to
apture, the Hair buyer, Governor Hamilton. Sorry you missed it, it was a
reat adventure. Mel is no only a good actor but a source of much information
nd followed his presentation with a questions and answers session. He is
ell informed and certainly knows his history. He autographed pictures of
imself in costume. We could tell he was a great admirer of Clark.
fter a superb lunch by Biancki's, we proceeded to The Ruddell Fort site
nd were greeted by Property owner BT Darnell. BT is a excellent hostess and
ccompanied us on the tour which included the burial vault. She was also
n attendance for the Hankla Presentation. Our thanks to her for a fantastic
athering. We do appreciate the Darnells, BT for her interest and Dunny
or his work in mowing the site and moving his cattle around so we can get
n. Thank you BT and Dunny.
he Ruddell Fort tour completed we traveled on to Ruddles Mills and
topped to look at the old Stone house built by Isaac Ruddell for his son. This
a great old building that has had some recent repairs. All in all it is in
ood shape for it's age. From the stone house we proceeded to the Mouth of
toner Cemetery to view the Isaac and Elizabeth Ruddell Monument. This is
he stone purchased by RAMSHA. It is a stunningly beautiful tribute to Isaac
nd Elizabeth.
fter our tour was over Phyllis and James Still, the Texas Couple, wanted
o see Bird's Crossing. Bill Overbey and I escorted them to the crossing.
t was muddy and the weeds along the river were very high and thick, but we
anaged to hack our way to the crossing. The water was high and running
ast from recent rains, but we could see the crossing. We stood at the waters
dge and took pictures. We said our goodbyes and The Stills headed back to
exas
his concluded Gathering 2011, and it was truly a wonderful day for all.

Subject: [RUDDLESFORT] Urgent Prayer needed
My Grandson Travis Lee was involved in a very serious Auto wreck Thursday
Morning. The Auto was torn in half after striking a telephone pole and
several trees. Travis was ejected from the auto and suffered multiple serious
injuries, which included head trauma, broke clavical, broken left arm, broke
wrist, chattered upper lag and fractures of the lower leg, archel and foot
and many cuts and bruises over his body. The other boy in the car, named
Michael was even more serious and is in a coma. Both were aircared to The UK
medical center in Lexington, KY. Travis sent most of Thursday in the
operating room being put back together. He is currently in the ICU and comes
and
goes from an unconcious state and is listed as serious. . Michael, the
other victim is still in a coma with mulitple injuries. . We urgently need your
prayers for both young men. If you are praying for them I would like to
know. The Hospital is the Chandler Hospital at the University of Kentucky
medical center, 800 Rose street, Lexington, KY.
Please pray for them. Prayer Works.
