Charlie,
I think part of your question may be a confusion over different Moses
Barbers. The original post asked about the Moses Barber who married
Susannah West. Someone answered with a reference to a later Moses
Barber, descended from the Moses who was the subject of the question.
On page 392 of the Barber genealogy by Schroeder that I mentioned in my
detailed reply about the earlier Moses Barber, Moses Barber(4) is listed
as the son of Nathan(3) [Benjamin(2), Moses(1)] and Thankful Maxson.
This marriage is also listed on page 8 of "The Maxson Family," by Walter
LeRoy Brown, 1954.
If I remember right, the earlier post on the "wrong" Moses referred to
his birth record in Hopkinton: "Moses Barber, of Nathan and Thankful, b
26 July 1757," Arnold, "VRRI," 5:HO:31.
The identity of the parents of Moses(1), who married second Susannah
West and presumably married first Ann Babcock (I hope someone does
actually check the Westerly records to verify this marriage to Ann
Babcock), have not been proven.
Bill Maryott and I corresponded several years ago regarding the identity
of Benjamin Barber Perry. Bill has done some excellent research on the
Barbers and other families.
