Seeking information on the identities of the children of
James and Lydia Hall Austin of Richmond, Washingrton
County, RI. James and Lydia were both born in Richmond,
RI, circa 1758. James is the son of Joseph Austin, who
was born on 1 Feb 1731. James and Lydia had several
sons and daughters, who were born either in Richmond
on nearby in RI.
James was a Revolutionary War soldier, was wounded,
and received a pension. His pension records reflect
that he had a large family, but the children were not
identified. I have only been able to identify Jesse
Austin as one of his sons. I am particularly interested
in determining if a Timothy Austin, born around 1780, is
one of his sons, as Timothy is my great, great grandfather.
James moved to NY for a few years in the mid-1780's and
then moved first to Westford, VT, and finally to Highgate, VT,
where he lived for many years. He died around 1839 presumably
in Highgate,VT. Timothy is the right age to have been one of
James' sons and also was a head of household in Highgate,
VT, for many years.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
