The following just arrived from Brian Leverich, RootsWeb Genealogical
Data Cooperative

Hi all -
RootsWeb now has four dual Pentium Pro 200 / 256MB RAM / 13+GB disk
Unix main servers online, and we have fifth in reserve and parts for
a sixth on the shelf. We also have a whole flock of auxiliary
servers.
Besides the dual-homed 1,544Kb T-1 Internet connection we have now,
we've just contracted today to upgrade a second 128Kb frame relay
circuit to a dual-homed full T-1.
We should have the second full T-1 in place in a week or two. Then
we'll have plenty of bandwidth for supporting
USGENWEB.COM and
future facilities like a search engine for the USGenWeb Archives (a
primitive version is in alpha test with the Archives folks),
Hypermail and searchable archives for listowners, and some neat new
facilities for the County and State Coordinators.
We've also started talking to vendors about getting a DS-3 Net
connection, which is *much* larger than a T-1.
If everything above reads like Greek, the real point is that
RootsWeb has been and will continue growing so we can provide new
and better free services to the entire online genealogical community.
I'd especially like to thank the Members, Sponsors, and Donors who
support RootsWeb. Without your past and continuing support, we
simply wouldn't be able to provide these services to the community.
Good luck with your research everyone! Cheers, B.
