Hi Jack - I don't have any record of my John Pearce and Mary Tallman at
Prudence Island. They mostly lived in Portsmouth and Tiverton. Consider
yourself lucky if you are a direct descendant of John Pearce. Researchers for
his line will take you back to the 9th century and you will have British royal
blood in your veins from the Plantagenet and Norman kings. Having John
Pearce as an ancestor is better than finding one that came over on the Mayflower.
On the flip side, however, John Pearce helped put the noose around my 8th
great grandfather's (Thomas Cornell) neck. He testified at the trial that
Cornell had earlier made a snide remark about his dead mother finally got her
"desire to have a good fire." That was probably in reference to the fact that
her
body was found half burned. She had also complained to Thomas that she got no
