Nancy-Jo, by now you've probably had your question answered, but
just in
case
no one's answered you yet, the word "Ibid" (note: one
"I", not two), is an
abbreviation of the Latin phrase "ibidem", meaning "in the same book or
passage". It's often used when giving sources for an article or whatever.
For the first reference made to the source, the name of the book or
document,
etc., is written out fully. When there are several sequential
references
to
the same source, then the word "ibid" is used as a type of
shorthand or
time-saving shortcut. If a reference to another book, document is made,
then
the next time that the original book or document is referred to, it
must
be
written out in its entirety again. Then the "ibid" could
again be used
for
other sequential references to the same source.
I hope this helps...or is it as clear as mud?!
