Reba,
I am a descendant of both lines, but have not been able to find the Joseph
and Mary (Noyes) Champlin that you are talking about.
My only Mary Noyes that would fit into the time frame was a daughter of John
Noyes and Mary Gallop.
The only Joseph Champlin I have is a son, I think, of William and Mary
Clarke.

Thank you, Walt and Bonnie, for your replies.
There is a portion of the book at
http://geocities.com/gbgwbel/revwarstory.html , but it does not tell who
placed it on the internet. I would like to use the information as a
source,
but will need the actual page copies along with the title page to do so.
I
also searched Google Books and HeritageQuest, but did not find the book I
am
searching for there.
Joseph Champlin was born on 4 Aug 1709 in Westerly, Washington County, RI.
He married Mary Noyes on 8 Feb 1753 in Stonington, New London County, CT
and
died on 20 Dec 1792 in Stonington, New London County, CT.
William Champlin was born on 2 Oct 1757 in westerly, Washington County,
RI.
He married Content Leeds Brown in 1781 in Leyden, Franklin County, MA and
died on 2 Mar 1848 in Quechee, Windsor County, VT.
On the website
http://www.wassar.net/pubs/bios/b.htm which is the website
of
the Washington State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution it
says:
"Joseph Champlin Colonel in regiment of militia from Rhode Island. He was
noted for his patriotism. He melted up his silverware to obtain funds for
war purposes. Died in the army from camp distemper.
William Champlin son of Joseph, entered the service at 16 or 17 years of
age. He was stationed at Stonington Point Fort and at New London Fort with
Capt. Belcher. He was Sergeant three years under Capt. Elijah Lewis.
Marched
to New Jersey and joined Washington's forces. Spent the winter at Valley
Forge. He was in the Battle of Monmouth, stationed in the right wing,
under
command of Washington. Assisted in manning the sloop "Hancock" as a
privateer. He was on the "Oliver Cromwell." Was Captain of Marines on
board
the "Minerva"; also sailed on the sloop "Spitfire."
I do not know where the book was published."
Perhaps I should also post a message on the Connecticut mailing list.
Thanks for your help.

I am researching my 5th great grandfather, Joseph Champlin. There is a
book
written by his son, William Champlin, called Tales of the Revolution.
Does
anyone know where I can find this book or does someone have a copy. I am
very interested in having a copy of the book or at least copies of pages
referring to Joseph Champlin or passages where William Champlin refers to
his father without naming him and a copy of the title page of the book.
This book apparently states that Joseph Champlin melted his silver plate
to
aid to the "cause" and his home was used as a refuge for patriots during
the
Revolutionary War.
Thanks for your help.

Reba
Could you give us a date for Joseph and his son William?
Also, there is a book "Tales of the Revolution" but the writer was not
Champlin, according to the google book list.
