SCOTT, JAMES E., JR., 80, of Mawney St., a retired third generation florist,
died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday after a short battle
with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Barbara (Tatro)
Scott. Born in Providence he was the son of the late James E. Scott, Sr. and
Madeleine (Manchester) Scott. He owned and operated Scott the Florist in
Providence and East Greenwich for several years. After selling his business,
he worked at Hasbro for a short period of time before retiring. During his
retirement he enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. He was a World War
II Army Air Force veteran. Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Gordon M.
Scott and his wife Jeanne of East Greenwich and one grandson Christopher
Scott. He also leaves one brother of Perry Scott of Middletown and was the
brother of the late Diane Scott. A memorial service will be held on Sunday,
November 19 at 4:30 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich
Ave., West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may attend calling
hours on Sunday from 2-4:30 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers,
donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Subject: [RI] Scott the Florist
Does anyone on the list remember Scott the Florist of many years ago? They
were well known in the Providence area. I am trying to find the first name of
the Scott that ran the business. Claire
