Thank you, Bill, for your response.
I am looking for proof and documentation of Joseph Champlin's patriotism
during the Revolutionary War. I have been looking for a book called Tales
of the Revolution by William Champlin (son of Joseph), but I am beginning to
believe that there is no such book. Maybe William wrote about his exploits,
but what he wrote was never published.
I would like to have proof of his service to the American cause, whether in
the military or civilian, to be used in an application for the Daughters of
the American Revolution.
I know that William Champlin's service is well documented, but I also wanted
to document Joseph's contribution so that he also is recognized as a
patriot.
Thanks again for your help.

Ok with the dates and location, I was able to look up Joseph in my library.
Austin's "Genealogical Dictironary of Rhode Island," p 277, lists a
Joseph-5, b 4 Aug 1709. He was the son of Christopher-4 and Elizabeth
(Denison) Champlin. Christopher names a Joseph in his will.
Christopher-4 was son of Christoper-3 Champlin; s/o William-2 and Mary
(Babcock) Champlin; s/o Jeffery-1 Champlin.
