This list has the most dedicated genealogists of any list I am on and I am on
a lot. We are also very friendly and do veer off sometimes. Take a look at
our archives and see the thousands of hours of dedicated research that is
shared freely by these same people that also need a break sometimes and post
off topic subjects. If you could add up the research and postings as a
dollar value, this list is priceless. How much is it worth to find out
something about an ancestor? How much does it cost to pay a professional
genealogist to sell you the information that is handed to us on a silver
platter on this list, in the name of camaraderie and friendship-at no charge.
I pay for a lot of things for my genealogy and I know the rest of the people
on this list have put in a lot of money and time also. We all share what we
find with a smile and I have never once seen anyone ask for gas money or
anything else. It is nice to get a big thank you and that is enough of a
payment for favors done.
