Hi Charlie -
Thanks for straightening out the Rodman information, and
for the reminder about the maps. I always forget those
maps are on line there.
here is the site link -
Earle - if you scroll down to Washington county, you
can look at the map in sections. The Narragansett times
building is shown in Section 5, of the map called
Enlargements of rocky Brook, Peacedale, and Wakefield,
so that should be a good place to start to match it up to your map.

Subject: [RIGENWEB] 1870 maps
Lisa and Earle
Try going to RIGENWEB and scrolling down to "Maps". This will bring up
Beers
1870 maps of the areas Earle was writing about and he may be able to
compare
the different sections of the two maps.
The info on the Rodman mills as written in the article you spoke of isn't
correct. The Rodmans came to S.K. from Newport and purchased a mill in
Wakefield. Robert Rodman came to N.K. and bought his original mill from
the
Taylor family. That mill burned down and his first mill was built on
Silver
Springs to replace the mill bought from the Taylors. He then built two
mills, one at Shady Lea and the second in Lafayette. These two mills open
in
c1870 and operated until c1952. I have pictures of Taylors mill and
Rodmans
first mill on Silver Springs.. Taylors are my line and are buried behind
the
house I was born in at Silver Springs.
