for any news, but didn't find anything.
I did find the Prudence Island Historical Society. Here is the link to
their
collections page which talks about many newspapers they have in their
collection.
Also, have you tried to contact the owners of the trees where you find Paul
Chase mentioned?

Subject: [Rhode Island] Death involving Prudence Island Ferry Boat
Sept. 8, 1932
Hello Listers,
I have found a family member, Paul Chase, on several family trees on
Ancestry.com. These trees list his death as 8 Sept. 1932 Prudence
Island Ferry Boat. I have tried Googling this information to see if
there was some type of sinking, boiler explosion, or other type of
incident on the ferry. I have not been able to find anything.
I realize he may have simply had a heart attack or fallen overboard.
I'm just wondering if anyone may know if there was some sort of
accident involving the ferry. I am not from R I. nor do I live there,
so I don't have the sort of local knowledge that residents usually
have. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Nan Ramsey
