Message Board Post:
Thanks for the generous offer.
I've been trying to find an arrival for ancestors of my husband's who may or may
not be in your book; it's going to be close.
Given the dates, the Port of Providence is the only possibility as the family was still in
Ireland through part of 1872 when a son was born to them there.
Arrival would be the last half of 1872 if they did come during 1872 & not later on the
next year.
The family unit to look for would be:
John Keegan abt. 27 yrs , occupation most likely listed as laborer
Mary Keegan, wife, abt. also abt. 27 yrs
Elizabeth, daughter, abt. 7yrs
Katherine, daughter, abt. 4 yrs
Margaret, daughter, abt. 2 yrs
John, Jr., son, newborn or a couple of months old
The family was Irish. Origin - Ireland, County Leitrim with either Mohill or Aughavas
being listed. They may have given their townland w/in Aughavas/Mohill . We don't
know what their townland was & if they did get that specific, that would be a nice new
bit of info. for us.
Intended residence would have been Providence as that's where I've found them in
city directories. Specific street was Burrington St. on Providence's west side at the
Cranston City line.
Thanks so much for the offer. I hope they're in your book.
