ARMENO, Guido Mario.
Teacher, born in Providence, November 13, 1907, the son of Angelo and
Filomena (Picozzi) Armeno.
He received his education in the local public schools; Technical High
School, 1925; R. I. State College, B. S., 1929. Spent one year at R.
I. College of Education, where he completed a teacher's course in
1930. Received the degree of M. of Educ. from R. I. College of
Education in 1934.
He began his active career as a public school teacher at Esek Hopkins
Junior High School in 1931, remaining there until February, 1932, at
which time he was transferred to Roger Williams Junior High School.
In 1933 he was appointed as teacher of general sciences at Gilbert
Stuart Junior High School.
In addition to his teaching position, he has devoted his spare time
after school hours and the summer vacations in promoting recreational
activities among school boys and girls, serving first as assistant
director and then as director of Public Playgrounds. In 1938 he
coached the Gilbert Stuart Junior High School champion baseball team.
Mr. Armeno is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On September 5, 1936, Mr. Armeno married Theresa Campagnone."
