I looked at 1930 Cranston Street Directory on Ancestry. It says "Kelvin Av
fr 947 Pontiac Ave. w Pettaconsett" I went to 947 Pontiac Av on Google map.
It looks like an office/industrial park (later than 1930). The area
westward seems to be the Garden City development that I believe was started
in the late 40s or early 50s.

Subject: [RI] Streets in Cranston RI
I am looking for a lost piece to my family puzzle. I have great
grandparents listed on Kelvin Street in Cranston - the Pettaconset area.
The cu rent maps have no such street. I know that the area did change, lose
and rename. Can anyone locate the approximate location or new name of Kelvin
Avenue? I am looking for the 1930 census that would show that street. Which
ward/district would "Petteconset" be?. The 1930 Cranston City directory has
my great grandfather and wife listed in 1930 on Kelvin but not listed on any
co responding census? I am confused. Its as though he was there but not???
The City Tax accessor's office has them as owning on Crothers Avenue in
1930. has any one seen the Cranston street map from 1920-1935?
