I have a whole bunch of Champlin's from RI but not the 2 you mentioned. Mine

I am researching my 5th great grandfather, Joseph Champlin. There is a book
written by his son, William Champlin, called Tales of the Revolution. Does
anyone know where I can find this book or does someone have a copy. I am
very interested in having a copy of the book or at least copies of pages
referring to Joseph Champlin or passages where William Champlin refers to
his father without naming him and a copy of the title page of the book.
This book apparently states that Joseph Champlin melted his silver plate to
aid to the "cause" and his home was used as a refuge for patriots during the
Revolutionary War.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Elaine,
Do you have any more information on the Tallman's of New Berlin?
I ask because I am trying to compile a genealogy of all of the Tallman's in
America.
Thanks,
Rick

The operations were made possible through the Red Cross Welfare Fund of this

I send this because New Belin had so many TALLMAN families and most of the

Gloria,
Thanks for this source. It does not speak very well for the accuracy of
ancestry.com's databases. I took a look at the Arnold's Vital Records in
my library and at the on-line transcription at newenglandancestors.com.
Both list only Reynolds Kenyon's father, i.e. John.
So where did the name of his supposed mother come from? The entry in
Arnold previous to John Kenyon is three children for John and Joanna
Joslin! Whoever copied or scanned Arnold had to jump over an alphabetic
division and heading between the "J" (i.e. Joslin) and the "K" surnames
(i.e. Kenyon) to attach Joanna as the mother of John Kenyon's children.
It would appear that Joanna Joslin was not the wife of John Kenyon and
can be set aside as typical internet fiction.
According to Arnold, the Joslins appear on page 172, Vol 1 of the Exeter
records and the Kenyons on page 199, Vol 1.

Hey Claire,
Would you or anyone know just where this Abigail Potter came from? Does she decend from Robert Potter? or Nicholas Potter? Just trying to pick up a connection.... I know we are related through Richard Warren and John Howland and the Tilleys etc... but what about the Bristol POTTER connection??

Hi Ron: Guess we are related in some fashion. My Peter Tallman married Ann
Hill Jan 2, 1649 in Christ Church Parish, Barbadoes. Their daughter
Elizabeth Tallman married Isaac Lawton. Also I am related to the DeWolfs. Margaret
DeWolf was the daughter of Mark Anthony DeWolf and Abigail Potter. She married a
Diman. I was born in Warwick, R. I.
There seems to be some kind of question about the wives. I have Ann Hill as
being born in 1628 in Newport Maybe there were a couple of Peter Tallmans.
How do you read it??? Claire

The wives of John Kenyon, father of Reynolds, b 21 Aug 1786, have been
questioned.
Capt. Howard N. Kenyon listed three wives for John in American Kenyons.
Alden G. Beaman, RIGR, 2:64 and Sterling and Good, Exeter Cemeteries
book (Cem 68) list Welthan wife of John, hb of Welthan Reynolds. But in
Amer Kenyons, p 94, Capt. JNK said that she was Welthian Ann Mumford,
and that the surnames of his first and third wives were switched on
their gravestones.
Since Sterling and Good do not show a stone for the first wife, it must
be gone or unreadable.
The three wives listed by JNK were: Freelove Reynolds, Lydia Eanos, and
Welthian Ann Mumford. The marriage of John Kenyon in Exeter, 8 June
1755, to Freelove Reynolds, is listed in Arnold's "Vital Records of RI."
JNK lists John Kenyon's first three children by his first wife (b
1755-1760; five by his second wife (b 1764-1774); and seven more by his
third wife, including Reynolds Kenyon (b 1786).
Roy Sherman in "The New England Shermans," 1974, pp 392-393 lists John's
second wife as Lydia Eanos (possibly following the lead of JNK), and
descendants of her son Remington, through Remington's wife Thankful Barber.
What is the source of the name of Joanna Joslin as one of his wives?

HISTORICAL CEMETERY #: FR083 MOOSUP VALLEY CEMETERY
FOSTER
Location: 10 ft north of MOOSUP VALLEY RD at TEL pole # 79
400 burials with 316 inscriptions from 1787 to 1980
NOTE: In his will John Tyler mentioned the old burying ground
and excepted
it in his bequest of land to son Thomas H Tyler. [Foster Probate
IX p 315
dated 1859]. On March 10, 1867 Thomas H Tyler, George W Rathbun
and Matilda
Rathbun (dau of Thomas Tyler) deeded land to Casey H Tyler that
adjoined the
old burying ground and lay west of the Tyler Bridge. Casey
platted lots and
sold to families in Moosup Valley. The middle section is all
Tyler and
relations. The west section was an additional strip of land
purchased by Otis
Foster from George W Rathbun et all on 16 Aug 1872 (BK 14Pg 294)
An older
Foster cemetery was on the south side of Moosup Valley Rd in the
meadow opposite
the cemetery. These graves were moved from there to the newer
Otis Foster lot.
There are references in deeds to the old Foster cemetery - Bk 14
Pg 261 &
mortgage Bk 1 Pg 155 - in 1871 deeds between Otis & Susan Foster
and Douglas
Blanchard in which the "burying ground now walled in, with
privilege to pass &
repass" was reserved.
This cemetery has been recorded but not checked.

Is Capt Howard N. Kenyon in "American Kenyons" (He made many mistakes)
and Robinson's Gardiner genealogy incorrect in the marriage of this
Reynolds Kenyon to Permerie Dye on 8 Apr 1810 in Ashford, CT.
My notes show that there was more than one Reynolds Kenyon.
I show a Reynolds-5 Kenyon b 7 Dec 1780 to William-4 and Rosanna
Reynolds. William was s/o David-3 and Mary (Potter) Kenyon, s/o David-2
and Mary (surname unknown) Kenyon, s/o John-1 and ?.
The Exeter records, (Births, Marriages, Deaths, Vol, 2, 1774-1883, p
199) record the children of John Kenyon, including Reynolds, b 21 Aug 1786.
I am not sure that either of the Reynolds Kenyon are the one John is
asking about. The Reynolds Kenyon John is asking about married in 1840
when Reynolds the son of John was ca 34 and Reynolds, son of William was
40. This is late for a first marriage.
John, where were Reynolds and Cynthia married? Where did they live?
Where were they born? Where was Lowell born?

Susan,
The site you want is The Rhode Island Historical Cemeteries Transcription Project.
Here are addys for the site starting with the home page:
http://members.tripod.com/~debyns/cemetery.html - Home page gives general information and history of the project, etc.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~rigenweb/cemetery/index.html - Search the surnames master index
http://members.tripod.com/~debyns/fr_ceme.HTM - Descriptions of the historic cemeteries in Foster. Moosup Valley is a little over halfway down the page, Forster Historical Cemetery # FR083.

Bill,
I don't have a lot on the couple. The 2nd marriage for Cynthia to
Reynolds Kenyon was given in The Lillibridge Family w/o place nor date.
It
was probably ca. 1840, since Cynthia's first husband, James Burton
Briggs
died, 18 Apr 1840, in Exeter. I had nothing on Reynolds Kenyon except
his
name. The son of Reynolds and Cynthia, Lowell K. Kenyon, was born, 26
Jun
1843, in Exeter. Cynthia and her first husband are buried in the
Lillibridge
Burial Ground in Exeter (EX 57). Cynthia was born in Exeter. Lowell K.'s
two
sons were born in East Greenwich.

With many contributing to the Reynolds Kenyon subject, do any of you
have a Thompson E. Kenyon, born about 1804 in your records? He
married Mary Ann Cowan of Scipio, NY - Cayuga County, and removed to
Eaton/Jackson County, MI abt 1836. They had two children, born 1832
and 1838. Mary Ann died 1841, and Thompson died 1849. The children
were with a Guardian until reaching majority.
Thompson E. and Mary Ann are great grandparents of mine, and a real
puzzle as to his parents - I have her data before her marriage.
Thanks for checking your Kenyon families. Patricia
Charlie,
You got anything else on this Reynolds Kenyon - he appears to be very
hard to find anywhere?
Thanx again.

Please reply offlist and clarify what it is that you want changed. The

Thank you; this is what I think would be the facts about Jane Ann Saunders.
Jane Ann Saunders -7 born 6 Dec 1843 (Beaver Center, Crawford PA)
died in Kansas 8 Nov 1906; she is buried in the Old Milo Cemetery in Barnard
Lincoln Kansas.
Her father was Hezekiah Saunders-6 born 10 Dec 1805 in Broadalbin Montgomery
County NY (It might have been Fulton County at that time). who also removed to
Kansas (Barnard Lincoln KS) where he died 2 June 1901. Hezekiah was married
to Jerusha Branch; she has been very hard to trace and the variants of her
name were Jerusia/Jerusa etc. and in one census Gerusha. Jerusha Branch Sanders
was born 12 April 1809 in Edmeston Otsego NY and she lived until 1900 (Salt
Creek Lincoln Kansas.)
The ancestral lineage that is presumed for Hezekiah is as follows:
Hezekiah Saunders-5 and Eleanor (maiden name unknown) of Westerly Rhode
Island (removed to Bridgewater Oenida County NY)
Hezekiah Saunders-4 and Mary Bliven.
Edward Saunders-3 and Elizabeth Babcock
Edward Saunders -2 and Sarah
back to "Old Tobe" Tobias Saunders-1
thank you for any information on these families
