You are correct. I was given a source reference today for "Tillinghast
Families 1569-1910" by Rose tillinghast. The book is in the East Greenwich
library.
I will check out your URL.
Mine is at

Thanks for your note.

I sent a previous note which seems to have vanished. I think your ancestor
is a granddaughter of Pardon Tilllinghast. Look her up in Arnolds "Vital
Records of RI" which are on fiche at all LDS Family History Centers. This
would be in Providence I think. I have Pardon's ancestry at my url below.
Find in either surname index or pedigree.

Is anyone else on the list researching this couple?
Thomas Phillips (James, Michael, James, Michael) was born 1762 in of
Coventry, Kent County, Rhode Island, and died 01 January 1833 in Sterling,
Windham County, Connecticut. He married in 1788 in Coventry, Kent County,
Rhode Island, Catherine Johnson, born 1771, daughter of Ebenezer Johnson and
Elizabeth Tingley. She died 06 October 1824 in Jewett City, Connecticut.
Thomas Phillips was the son of James and ?? of Coventry, RI. His father,
James Phillips, was a son of Michael & Freelove (Wilkinson) Phillips who
moved from Smithfield. RI to Pomfret, CT., where they are buried.
I have some very strong clues that my ggg-grandfather, Thomas Phillips (who
is listed as Thomas Phillips, Jr. in his marriage record to Susannah Olin on
21 September 1825 in Lisbon, CT.), born about 1806/7, was a son of Thomas &
Catherine (Johnson) Phillips. Some time after the 1800 census, Thomas &
Catherine moved from West Greenwich, RI to Preston, CT, where they appear in
the 1810 and 1820 census listings. In the 1820 census, Thomas Phillips,
Senior, lived in the household next to Squire Olin (father of Susanna Olin).
In addition, Catherine Phillip's death notice appeared in the Norwich
Courier in October 1824.
Two published genealogies contain information about two children of Thomas
and Catherine Phillips: Patience Phillips, born 1792, is discussed in the
Thayer-Burton Ancestry (she married Caleb Thayer and settled in Sterling,
CT.) William Phillips, born 1797, married Asenath Brewster in Lisbon, CT.
and is discussed in The Brewster Genealogy by Emma C. Brewster Jones.
I'm very interested in locating any other genealogies that may have
information about this family. I have found scattered information on the
earlier generations of the Michael & Barbara Phillips family (from whom
Thomas Phillips descends), but very little about the later generations,
particularly the large group that migrated over to Connecticut. It appears
that Thomas Phillip, (senior) died intestate, so I don't expect I will find
positive proof of my ggg-grandfather's relationship to him, but perhaps
other accounts or records exist. Any ideas?

Hi Nancy-Jo
Do you think it meant, "Ibid". If it did, then it just means that it is
the same information as above. For example, when doing a bibliography, if
the quote is from the book or article from the previous notation in the
bibliography, instead of retyping that same information, they just write,
"ibid"

Are you sure it is not "Ibid"? That means, "the same", that is, "the same
reference as the previous reference listed."

Looking for ancestry of Mary Tillinghast, born abt 1693, married 6 May 1714

I don't know if there is a MA death index. I asked about the California
Death Index today. They said that there
are 2 FHCs that we know of in this area..........Everett and Auburn, WA that
both have the California one. We do not know if
they are on film from Salt Lake or if they are part of those library's
private collections. We assume (which we must never do!)
that since they are both in FHCs that they very likely are available from
Salt Lake................Polly

I sent the below message a few weeks ago. Since then I have found that Noyes
in about 1876, married Ella Elizabeth Austin daughter of David W. Austin.
Still no information on the three siblings of Noyes and Clark nor anything
further on Noyes. Sure will appreciate any help.
"I am searching for information on the children of Amos Rodman PERRY born
3/22/1832 S. Kingstown, son of John Robinson Perry 1784-1857. Amos married
Mercy P. Champlin born 1836 and they had two sons, Noyes born 1856 and my
grandfather, Clark born 10/6/1862. They also had three daughters, Lizzie
6/3/1860, Jennie 2/18/1868 and Rosa 5/31/1872. The family moved from
S. Kingstown to Providence some time before 1868 since Jennie and Rosa were
born there.
Does any one have information on the four siblings of Clark? I will be happy
to share what I have on the Perry, Holden and Merriam families."

Malbone GARDINER -- Malbone was the son of Nathan Gardiner. He graduated at Brown University
in the class of 1802. His father died about this time (11 Mar 1802), and his mother followed his
father a few years after (13 Jul 1807).
Malbone tried to practice law on Kingston Hill. Drunkenness was the curse of his life, and he
spent his fortune of $10,000 in a few years after coming into possession of it. Becoming so much
embarrassed that he finally got into jail. When he got free he tried to keep school. His vice
ruined the business and soon he had to resort to manual labor.
On the 5th of December 1841 he signed the pledge, and soon began to lecture on temperance.
He broke down frequently. He died among his friends in New York State about the year 1850.
He was never married.
Thus is given, in a few sentences, the history of a mis-spent life. Talented, respected, wealthy,
and finely educated. Possessing a fine form and easy manners. Endowed by nature with gifts
enough to have made an honorable career for himself; yet giving way to a base and soul-lowering
passion he perished as a fool. How sad to think of the many victims to the curse of drink.

The Nicknames of Places in South Kingstown.-- The boys of South Kingstown conceived a great liking for nick-
names, and carried it to extreme degrees, so much so that every family, and almost everybody had one of these
cognomens attached. As a sample of their aptness this way we give the names the places in the town, with
the boy's name attached, as a piece of curiosity:
Harley's Mill --- Biscuit City
Wells' Carding Mill -- The Little Punch Bowl
Usquepaug -- Old Mumford's
Point Judith -- Pirate's Paradise
Tower Hill, on hill -- Sodom
Tower Hill, under hill -- Gomorrah
Watson's Corner -- Rum Corner
Kingston Hill -- Hornet's Nest
Wakefield -- Old Mill
Peacedale -- Wool Slusher
Rocky Brook -- Black Swamp
Bridgetown -- Buckey Town
Narragansett Pier -- Mushroom City
Curtis' Corner -- Sot's Hole
Perryville -- Backside
South Ferry -- Sailor's Rest
Mooresfield -- God's Anger
Tuckerstown -- The Wilderness

No way to tell, they were all in a box left from an estate. Assume most are
