Each year we have a number of Association Newsletters returned by Canada
Post because the addresses were not valid. This year Canada Post has charged
us a return mail fee higher than the original postage; thus it is costing us
more than double the postage fees for those members who do not keep their
correct address on record. To add insult to injury, Canada Post has
confiscated many of the undelivered Newsletters. This year we have had 20
Newsletters returned or confiscated. In many cases, when we determine the
correct address, we have sent out a replacement NL at First Class postage
rates.
Each year before the mailing date, the Secy/Treasurer attempts to verify the
Nominal Roll with each Chapter executive with limited success. I can only
conclude that the accuracy of the Nominal Roll does not seem to be a
priority item in our Association.
Obviously, we need increased co-operation from our members and from our
Chapters to keep our Nominal Roll up to date and to stop this waste of our
scarce funds and to eliminate the time spent on trying to sort out this
situation.
I know that you will all work to solve this problem.
