Gents
This year hasn't been very good for the Regt. We have lost many good Regt'l family
friends. We, here at the Regt have felt the crunch with younger than most who have fallen.
It's with great sadness that news like this has to fall on our ears yet again and
again within the Association. We can only hope that those who pass on are comfortable as
they make the transition into a higher training area where tanks are plentiful and the
ammo bunkers are overflowing. I try to answer these messages of sad news, but my words are
little to dampen the sorrow families endure during these times. The only words of support
is an invitation to you to the Change of Command of the Commanding Officer the Royal
Canadian Dragoons here in Petawawa 24 June 2006. When we let the Guidon fly, or Troupe the
Guidon, this is a symbol to the fallen comrades of our fine Regt. It's not much
comfort at this point, but when you are there and the Guidon is released all soldiers
regardless of the amount of traini!
ng or time served, know that they are to follow this symbol. Past, present, living, or
deceased. WE WILL ALL BE THERE! I send my condolences to those in pain, but I know in my
heart, that these fine soldiers and their wives who have passed on. Were proud of their
time spent here at the Regt and served with distinction. We will not forget them.
