From the 8CH news list:
Hello, Everyone,
For those in the Petawawa-Pembroke area, the general public is invited to
attend the dedication ceremony of a Sherman tank. The vehicle has been
refurbished by the RCD to represent the tanks they used here in the late
1940's. It will be presented to the Town of Petawawa by CFB Petawawa to
mark the Centennial of the Base.
The ceremony takes place at 1100 hrs Monday, 27 June 2005. The location is
the intersection of the (new) Highway #17 and Paquette Road. Parking is
limited.
As an aside, all of the vehicles in the Park of the newly-renovated Base
Museum have also been refurbished. The RCD took on the responsibility to do
the Centurion, Sherman and Ferret. The Cent is painted to represent the FGH
here in the late 1950's, the Sherman is from the RCD, and the Ferret is 8CH
in the late 60's/early '70's. As I get the chance, I'll take digital
photos
and send them along. The RCD team has done a super job for the Corps in
Petawawa.
Best to All!
