Good morning Petawawa!
1. I'm Maj Nick Ward Deputy CF Intelligence LO at the Ministry of Defence in
London (UK). I've just spent a week on leave with my family in the Vosges.
We had the opportunity to make a quick trip into the Black Forest which
included a look-in on the former CFB Lahr facilities. The "Kaserne" is a
depressing sight, now overgrown with weeds and grass and thoroughly
vandalized. The old Black Forest Officers' Mess is in rather better shape
though, having been recently renovated and converted into a private art
academy.
2. On our way home to the UK, we stayed overnight in Amiens then attended
mass at the cathedral where we discovered a WWI RCD memorial plaque.
Although I'm sure the RCD regimental association is likely aware of its
existence, I thought you would be interested in seeing how it looks.
All the best to you and the Regiment,
Nick Ward
