Dragoons,
Only 158 booking days left till April 1, 2005. Do you know where your
Registration
Form is?
Thanks to Clive Milner, I can now announce that the Theme for Reunion 2005
will be "The 60th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland". Clive has
confirmed that Dr. H.H. Westenberg, Vice Consul for The Netherlands, will
be in attendance at our dinner on Saturday night. Dr. Westenberg will
speak about the appreciation the Dutch People still have for the action
taken by the many Canadian Soldiers who fought in the Battle to Liberate
Holland. We should encourage and assist where required all of our Veterans
to attend this dinner. This portion of the reunion is strictly planned to
honour them.
I also want to thank Norm Wood for providing a list of names of RCDs who
were part of the Liberation of Holland. The following are the only names
that I have received of RCDs who fought in the Battle to liberate Holland:
18 from the Toronto Chapter
James R Braden - Don White - Ed Gray - Elmer Haney - Henry Weir - Ed
Johnson - Al Wade -
Jack Walker - Percy Rescori - Tom Capone - Lewis Conway, - Robert Culp -
Ted Culp - John Currie -
Gordon W. Douglas - Wilmar Fice - Alex "Sandy" MacCharles and Art Sayer
2 from the Kingston Chapter
Clarence Wiskin and Bill Laird, Bill (RCEME)
Total 20 as of September 30, 04.
I am sure that there are other's who names should be on this list including
those who are now RCD Association Members but who were part of another
Regiment when they were in the battle. Please send names of anyone that
you know who was involved in this battle.
Ed Johnson is the only RCD Holland Veteran presently registered for the
reunion. Let us remember that these gentlemen may not have access to this
means. It is incumbent on those who are in contact with them to insure
they are aware of the "Theme" for the Reunion and encourage them to attend.
