Reunion Sitrep #5 January 23, 2005
Dragoons
There only 67 days left till April 1 and we need another 219 people to
register to meet our goal of 300.
I need the maximum registrations by April 1, 2005 so that we can judge the
financial viability of this reunion. As most of you are aware hotel
facilities and prices are based on rooms booked and numbers in attendance.
If we have not met the minimum requirements by April 1 it takes a leap of
faith on the part of the reunion committee to continue the contract in the
hope that the minimum numbers will be there by June 17th. The more
registrations we have by April 1, 2005 the more we can do to enhance the
reunion programme.
You can help by registering ASAP!

Theme "The 60th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland".
Thanks to the continued assistance of Norm Wood, I have been able to send
out letters to 35 current RCD Assn Members who served in Holland in 1945.
Advising them that Reunion 2005 will be dedicated to their contribution to
the Liberation of Holland and that The Vice Consul of the Netherlands will
be a guest speaker.
Following is the list that I have of Assn Members who served in Holland in
1945:
James Allison James Braden, Walter Barron Art Burke Tom Capone,
Lewis Conway Robert Culp, Ted Culp Bill Cunning John Currie,
Gordon W. Douglas, Wilmer Fice, Ken Galbraith John Gibson Ross Gould
Kenneth Gray Ed Gray, Alex Hainey Elmer Haney, Ed Johnson, Courtney
Knappett Horace Latulippe Gordon Lince John McCreadie David Robertson
Art Sayer, Gord Stephenson Al Wade, Jack Walker, Henry Weir Robert
Weskett, Don White, Clarence Wiskin, Ed Cheney Bill Laird
The names that are underlined are of those who have already registered.
Please do what you can to encourage the other members to attend, as this
special occasion will not be repeated.
Note: For those of you who have received a copy of the "Holland Veteran
Letter" be informed that Percy Rescorl has contacted me to say that he was
not in Holland as he was wounded in Cann prior to the advance into Holland.
Boat Tour - The Thousand Island Cruise for the Ladies on Saturday morning
is generating a lot of interest including some unexpected interest from our
local Kingston ladies. They see it as a neat way for a group of RCD
ladies to get together and enjoy each other's company in a comfortable
(large, glass-topped ferryboat) and entertaining venue. It is not just
about the spectacular view of Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River; it is
whom you are enjoying it with! Bring cameras!
We will have the 2005 Cruise Prices sometime in April. The cruise will be
from 1100 hrs till 1330 hrs, an optional lunch (at extra cost) is available
(elegantly served while you are cruising) and there is a refreshment bar on
board. Ladies, think about it, this could be the highlight of the
reunion. Transportation plans have not been finalized yet (it will
depend on the number going) but somehow we will get you to the dock and
back to the hotel in time to get ready for the dinner / dance.
DO NOT DELAY. GET YOUR REGISTRATION FORM IN THE MAIL ASAP!
Cheers,
Tom
