Hi,
I have received the following from the Ontario Branch of the OTHER
REGIMENT! Thought that some of you may find it of interest.
I wonder if we should pursue looking into opening up some sort of channel
between our Web Master, Norm Ashton and their Web Master, Bill Logan to
collect and distribute information common to both Associations? Just a
thought! If you have comments, please send them to Norm Ashton.
Sorry Norm if I have opened a can of worms, I do hope that something
positive comes of this.

Ian Grant
Tojo Griffiths has informed us that he was in Victoria recently and saw Ian
Grant who is in very bad shape. Ian is very bent over and has great
difficulty in moving. Dave Letson is kindly dropping in to see Ian
whenever he is in Victoria and said that Ian may soon be admitted to the
veterans hospital at Broadwindsor. Tojo points out that Ian is in the same
category as Ed Perkins who got the DSO as a Lt/acting Capt. His story in
included in the official Canadian Army History, Volume 2.
Bud Wheat and Bobby Coll
Don Crossman, the president of Alberta Branch, has passed on the
information that two Strathconas are in the Calgary Rockyview Hospital. Bud
Wheat is in unit 57, room unknown and Bobby Coll is in unit 47, room 15.
Both of their families said that visitors were welcome but visiting times
for them may be restricted so it would be prudent to telephone before
attempting to visit. Although their problems are of a serious nature, both
of them are receiving excellent care.
Passing - Ed Hyra
Howie Owen from Alberta Branch has passed on a message from Spook Spence
who reported that Ed Hyra passed away on 26 March 2004. A search for
additional details on the internet was unsuccessful but if further
information becomes available it will be passed on.
Violet Lynch
General Milroy informed us that Violet Lynch, wife of Second World War
Strathcona, Lloyd Lynch, passed away today, Monday, April 12th. Violet had
been in the hospital since January. Her funeral will be held in Ottawa on
Thursday, April 15th at 1100 hrs at the Duncan Funeral Home on Highway 31
