Subject: DEATH OF JOAN FAWCETT
Good Morning All:
I received an e-mail from BGen Ned Amy (Retired) this morning and he
has asked that I pass the word along. Please read the following:
Wendy Legaarden the daughter of Gordie and Joan Fawcett to say that
Joan had died peacefully yesterday. A memorial service will be held at
Cruickshanks funeral home in Halifax on saturday. 15 May and the Obit will
be in the saturday edition of the Globe and Mail Could you please put the
word out on the net.
Gordie died several years ago in Halifax. He and Joan served with the
Regiment in Petawawa in 1953/54 when I was with the Regiment. In the summer
of 1954 Gordie and Taffy Deeming took A Squadron to Gagetown equipped with
shermans. It was the first tank unit to train in the Camp and had the
experience of having tanks bogged down even on the top of the hills. Later
they took the squadron to Germany as part of our NATO Brigade Group.
Thanks ned
