Dragoons,
As the registration numbers climb to 200 and hopefully beyond there is a
feeling that maybe we will
not have to mortgage Fort Henry to pay the bill.
Everything seems to be falling into place quite nicely. Kit Shop, Lancers,
Photographer, Band are all
confirmed. We should have 200 plus for dinner. Dutch Flags will be flying
in honour of the occasion.
All is in readiness for your arrival. Oh, did I mention the the CDS, Gen.
Rick Hillier and Mrs Hillier
will join us for dinner Saturday evening.

Thousands Island boat cruise - 30+
Kingston Harbour Cruise includes the western end of the Thousands Islands,
Island Belle
We were having some difficulty getting 2005 information on the cruises
available to us as their season has not started yet and their office was
not staffed. Terri Murdoch (some of you know her husband, Alec Murdoch)
has finally been able to get some current 2005 information and we find that
the 3 hour cruise will not be available to us as it does not leave the dock
till after 1230 hrs.
However, all is not lost. There is a 1 and 1/2 hour "Kingston Harbour &
Luncheon Cruise" which includes the western end of the Thousand Islands,
on-board the Island Belle departing at 1100 hrs. You will have a choice of
the 3 course luncheon, Salad, Chicken Tarragon, Rice Pilaff, fresh
vegetables, dessert and coffee / tea, price is approximately $20.00 or
you may purchase individual sandwiches ($5.95), assorted salads ($3.95),
soups $1.95), veggies & dip ($2.50) etc. from the on-board canteen which
also sells refreshments (wine, $5.50 - 6 oz glass). We still do not have
the actual price but it will be in the ball park of $41.00 with lunch and
$21.00 without lunch. When I get a firm price I will send it out.
The Island Belle has a capacity of 150 people and they will reserve a
separate area for the RCD Ladies. Terri has phoned just about all the
ladies (30) who indicated on the registration form that they were
interested in the cruise. From the response that she received she thinks
that there is going to be quite the party on the water as the Island Belle
cruises the waters of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.
Names of some ladies who are planning on cruising are:
Jeanette Arsenault, Shirley Barwise, Jean Bell, Nola Brown, Dorothy Carey,
Jayne Hook, Elsie McAvity, Margaret (Kohler) Miiiedge, Ki Morgan, Mary- Lou
Moulton, Marg Munden, Valentine Murphy, Helen Rasmussen, Jene Robertson,
Yvonne Santer, Mariette Smith, Nancy Sproule, Barb Urbanowsky, Donna Ward,
Mary Watson, Chris White & Margaret Woolard.
For those of you who are now having second thoughts and want to join the
tour, please inform Terri at <alec1(a)cogeco.ca> of your interest and whether
you want the full lunch or if you want to purchase a sandwich etc. We have
to be able to inform the Cruise staff of our requirements about a week in
advance so that they can stock the Galley.
Please inform Terri ASAP!
There will be a separate table at the registration area for the cruise
bookings. The cruise must be booked between 1800 & 2100 hrs, Friday
evening. We can only accept cash, Canadian Dollars. However, Euro & US
funds will be accepted at par if necessary. Please have correct amount if
possible.
Ki Morgan & Helen O'Connell were to be part of this cruise but we have now
found out that Helen will not be able to attend the reunion. Ki Morgan has
donated the $65.00 which was for Helen's registration fee to the Reunion.
I think it would be most appropriate that the total sum be spent in support
of the ladies cruise. I will discuss this with Terri to determine where it
will have the most impact. Thank you Ki for this generous donation.
