On this, our 123rd Birthday, I would like to take the opportunity to thank
and congratulate the members of all elements of our Regimental Family for
their great work in the past year: those currently serving in the Regiment, those
serving on ERE and those ‘serving’ in the Association. This has, indeed,
been a challenging and rewarding year.
I would particularly like to point out the support shown to the serving
Regiment by those serving on ERE and in the Association throughout the difficult
times in October. Your kind support was very well received, to be sure! Thank
you.
Next year looks to be equally challenging as B Squadron prepares to relieve
A Squadron in Afghanistan, the ERE members continue to find their way to that
theatre in a variety of command and staff appointments, and the Association
readies for Reunion 2007 in Windsor in June. For those who plan to attend
Reunion 2007, please book in as soon as you can. Space is limited and the event
planners need as much forewarning of attendance as possible.
As well, many will have received the Commanding Officer’s letter which
describes in outline the Leeuwarden Day activities 13-15 April. Since the
Leliefontein activities this year were curtailed, I do encourage everyone to
participate in the Leeuwarden weekend in Petawawa as much as possible.
Finally, I would like to wish all members of the Dragoon Family a very Merry
Christmas all the very best in the coming New Year.
It is always a fine day to be a Dragoon – especially on our Birthday!
