Subject: A Christmas Message of Thanks

Just a message near Christmas to let you know we and all of our friends and fimily
think of you every day, with concern for your safety. But, more than that, you fill our
hearts with pride in knowing that you are the front line in the battle to preserve our
freedom and democratic values here at home. For , without you to fight for the rights to
a secure life and opportunity for those in the Middle East under attack from indoctrinated
followers of the totalitarian Taliban Islamic movement, the violence and repressions they
seek will eventually reach your and our homes in Canada.
Until our country's leaders agreed to send you to Afghanistan, Canada had become
a country who had everything in the way of material advantage, but had lost its'
resovle to stand up for the vailues that built the country over its first 100 years. Lack
of leadership and courage left us looking desperately for some reason to regain the pride
in Canada that we remembered from our childhood. You have restored that pride, and we
thank you for that, and for what we know you are accomplishing in Afghanistan , for
its' peiple and for its' future. We do get the odd report ( among the many
negative views the media seem fixated on ) that describe the successes o fhe mission -
reopened hospitals, the improved health of the population, the educational opportunities
opened for children, especially for girls, and the infrastructure and commercial successes
in the country.
We wish you all our love and offer our prayers for your safety and continued success
in your mission fo hope for the ordinary people of Afghanistan -- and a big hug from us
all. Thank you again for your and your families'continuing sacrifices for those of us
who are enjoing the comforts of home because you are risking your lives to keep it that
way.
The Willis family, Jean , Dave, Leslie, Michael , and Robert.
