In 2005, CBC Television and Galafilm put out a call to descendants of Canadian First World War soldiers to participate in the living history component of the Great War project. Over 6,500 Canadians applied and 150 made the final cut to take part in vivid battle recreations, and to experience what their ancestors went through in the killing grounds of Europe.
One of the 150 decendants is the great-nephew of a WW1 Dragoon Jason Prince http://www.cbc.ca/greatwar/prince.html His great-uncle was #818 Cpl John Patrick Teahan of Windsor, ON. http://www.cbc.ca/greatwar/teahan.html Teaham answered the call to colours at Amherst House, Amherstburg, ON., on 14 August 1914. He was an original Dragoon with the 1st Contingent sailing overseas in November 1914. He was SOS and commisssioned into the 11th Bn Sherwood Foresters in Dec 1915. He was KIA 8 Oct 1916, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France and the Southampton, ON War Memorial. http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=collections/virtualmem/...
A book titled "Diary Kid" based on his war diary from 1914-1916 (although 3 books were lost in the mail) was edited and published by his neice Grace Keenan Prince in 1999.
This wknd also marks the 90th anniversay of Vimy Ridge and the redidication of the Vimy Memorial. We should note and reflect in a moments silence to remember the 70 Dragoons and former Dragoons who have no know grave, and are commemorated on the Vimy Memorial.

Dragoons and Friends,
It is with much personal sorrow that I advise of the death of James Corry Bond. James, in his 91st year, passed away on Tuesday the 4th of April at the Perley Rideau Veterans Hospital in Ottawa.
Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry at 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa at 1030 hours on Tuesday the 10th of April, followed by a 1130 hours service; reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rideau Perley Foundation or the Canadian War Museum.
Bill Smith, Secretary NCR Chapter, RCD Association
It has been brought to my attention that some of our embers are having difficulty reserving rooms at the Holiday Inn Select.
After a meeting to-day with the hotel I was informed that there is another group there the same week-end using the initials RCDA.
In the future if you call the 1-800 number please tell them you are with the Royal Canadian Dragoons or use the registration code RCA.
Hopefully this will prevent any more confusion.
Thanks
Frank
