Thanks again to all of you who sympathised with my Thomas BLAND/BLAN/BLANN
(born c.1828/9 Montgomeryshire, father Thomas) conundrum. After more than a
year I've found out which of two separate families he belonged to--that of
Thomas BLANN and Anne ELLIDGE, of Trewern/Buttington, who were parents of
Jane, Elizabeth, Martha, and Ann baptised 1813-1825 and Mary bap. 1836, all
at Buttington.
BUT I still can't find a birth/baptism record for Thomas, who'd have
been born 1825-1836 when parents look like they took a leave of absence from
the parish. Have tried Bishop's Transcripts for MGY parishes of Alberbury,
Berriew, Bettws Cadewain, Buttington, Castell Caereinion, Forden,
Guilsfield, Llandinam, Llandrinio, Llandysilio, Llanerfyl, Llanfylllin,
Llangurig, Llanmerewig, Llanwrin, Montgomery, Pennant, Penstrowed,
Welshpool, Worthen; and even the nearby SAL ones of Bayston Hill,
Cardeston, Chirbury, Kinnerley, Llanyblodwel, Lydbury North, Mainstone,
Melverley, Minsterley, Worthen. A few of these were LDS print-outs, and
might not have been complete.
No evidence that the family was noncomformist. Neither Thomas BLAND's will,
nor 1861-1901 censuses, give any pointers. He's not in MGY 1851 census.
PLEASE does anyone have easy access to baptisms for other
Montgomeryshire parishes where this family might have lived for that 11
years? BLAND/BLAN/BLANN is an unusual name in that part of the country.
Would really appreciate any contributions!!
Hoping for a brick wall breakthrough,
Jane in New York City
